Privacy Policy
Overview
Rabese ("the app", "we") is a Chinese language learning app organized by HSK level, available on iOS and Android. We respect your privacy and commit to not collecting personal data we don't need.
Data we do NOT collect
- No name, email, or phone number.
- No account signup required.
- No third-party analytics (Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, etc.).
- No location tracking.
- No access to your contacts, photos or files (other than saving your progress image when you choose to — see Permissions).
- No advertising identifier (IDFA / Android Advertising ID).
Data stored on your device
The app stores the following only on your device (a local SQLite database and local settings), never synced to any server and excluded from cloud backup (iCloud / Google):
- Sentences you have bookmarked.
- Sentences you have marked as "learned" and when.
- How many times each sentence was tested.
- Your recent searches.
- App settings (language, pinyin, sound, haptics, daily goal).
You can delete all of this at any time via Settings → Reset learning data, or by uninstalling the app.
Network connections
The app does not connect to the internet: all sentences and audio ship inside the app. Links (policy, support, content sources) open in your browser only when you tap them.
Permissions
- Saving images (only when you choose "Save Image" / "Save to Photos" for your progress card): iOS asks for add-only Photos access; Android 8–9 asks for storage write access. Android 10+ needs no permission. The app never reads your existing photos.
- Audio playback: no permission needed.
Age
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. Example sentences come from a community source (Tatoeba) and have been filtered for sensitive content, but may mildly reference real-world topics such as alcohol, news-style violence or medicine. There is no advertising.
In-app purchases
The current version has no in-app purchases. If a Pro tier is offered in the future, payments will be handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your card details, Apple ID or Google account.
Policy changes
If we update this policy, the new version replaces the in-app copy and this page. The effective date updates accordingly.
